Thanksgiving dinner with the family is always a very special occasion. William was away and Alex had a last minute snafu and couldn't make it, but the rest of us gathered around the table to catch up on each other's news and to enjoy the festive meal. This year, in addition to the turkey, we had Brazil nut loaf en croute.  

On a walk along the Radnor Trail we stopped and talked with a woman who has a coop and a few hens in her backyard. Since then, thought a lot about having some really fresh eggs. Unfortunately we learned and confirmed that raising chickens is not permitted in our township, but just in case that changes (incredibly some city in Wisconsin did change its bylaws to allow poultry raising) or we move to a more bird friendly community, I'm saving the research.

Lansdowne Friends was the venue for a low-key Father's Day celebration this year. Amanda and John arrived for meeting after which we enjoyed the beautiful day outside, where Paul opened his gifts.

It was obvious early in 2008 that it would be difficult to find much time for camping, so when we were headed to the Washington, DC, area for a memorial service for my aunt, we decided to see if there were possibilities for camping so we could be sure to have at least one weekend in the tent.

Dickinson Square is a lovely little park in South Philadelphia, just across the street from Abigail Vare Elementary School.

We celebrated Easter this year with brunch at Drexelbook. Yummy.

After a bi-coastal week with Paul conferencing in Boston and me conferencing in Los Angeles, I hopped a red eye to Boston.

Folks from Fran's office met after work to wish a co-worker well in his new job.

Amanda and Chris hosted Amy and Amanda's party this year. It was our first visit to Amanda's and Chris's new place. Very nice. We walked up to Passyunk Avenue for a great Italian meal and then back to Amanda's for cake. Yum.
